Hermann Loens

Author of the North - German heather region. His poetry was set to music and validated as folk music.
He was an outstanding observer of nature and became the poet of the youth movement. He attended school
at Münster. He studied medicine and the science of nature in Münster, Greifswald/Göttingen. In 1891 he
became an editor for the Hannover newspaper and magazines as well as the editor of the
Schaumburg-Lippischen Country newspaper. From 1912 to 1914 he was a freelance writer. As an army volunteer,
he was killed in action in 1914 and was buried in Fallingbostel.
